As we dive into the holiday season, I know firsthand that balancing a full-time job and the festive preparations can be a bit overwhelming. That’s why I’m here with a delightful solution: 3-ingredient Sugar Cookie Truffles.

These heavenly bites are not only scrumptious but also incredibly easy to make, making them the perfect treat for everyone this holiday season.

How to Make 3 Ingredient Truffles:

The Magic Trio:

Let’s start with the ingredients. You’ll need just three: premade frosted sugar cookies, cream cheese, and white chocolate chips. Yes, that’s it! This simplicity is what makes these truffles an ideal choice for a quick holiday dessert.

The Simple Sugar Cookie Truffle Steps:

Prepare Your Workspace

Line your work surface with parchment paper, and have a plate or cutting board that fits in your fridge/freezer ready.

Cookie Crunch

Begin by scraping off any large sprinkles from the premade sugar cookies, but don’t worry if some frosting remains; it’s perfectly okay. Now, place the cookies in a food processor and grind them until they become crumbly.

Truffle Mixture

Transfer the cookie crumbs into a medium bowl and combine them with softened cream cheese. Mix until you achieve a smooth, cohesive dough.

Roll and Chill

Scoop out heaping tablespoon-sized portions of the dough and roll them into round balls. Place these on your parchment-lined surface and chill them in the fridge or freezer for about 20 minutes.

Chocolate Coating

While the truffle balls chill, melt white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl, heating in 30-second intervals and stirring well between each. Now, using a spoon, dip each chilled dough ball in the melted white chocolate, ensuring it’s evenly coated. Let any excess chocolate drip off, and transfer the truffle back to the parchment. You can use the back of the spoon to cover any thin or uneven spots.

Sprinkle Sensation: Before the white chocolate sets and hardens (it does so quickly), decorate your truffles with festive sprinkles. Work in small batches and have your sprinkles ready to add that touch of holiday magic.

3 Ingredient Truffle Frequently Asked Questions:

Here are a few questions that have been asked over the years about Christmas truffle recipes.

Can I use homemade sugar cookies instead of store bought ones?

Absolutely! Homemade cookies work wonderfully, too. Any premade sugar cookie will work here.  If you find the crumb mixture too dry once combined with the cream cheese, add one more ounce of cream cheese at a time until the mixture presses together.

How long do these truffles stay fresh?

Store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator, and they should stay delicious for about a week.

Can I use dark chocolate instead of white chocolate for coating?

Of course! Feel free to customize the chocolate coating to your preference.

Do I need to use White Chocolate or Can I Use White Candy Coating?

We do recommend using quality white chocolate chips – not candy coating.  White chocolate is thicker, covers nicely, and tastes better. White chocolate sets quickly.  Work in small batches and decorate with the sprinkles before the white chocolate sets and hardens.

How do I prevent the truffles from sticking to my hands while rolling them?

Chilling the dough helps, but if it’s still too sticky, lightly grease your hands or use a melon baller for shaping.

Can I freeze these truffles in advance for holiday gifting?

Absolutely! They freeze well; just be sure to thaw them in the fridge before enjoying them.

Ingredients

  • 6-8 premade frosted sugar cookies (about 3 inches in diameter)
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 10 oz white chocolate chips
  • Optional: Sprinkles, to decorate

Instructions

  1. Line your work surface with parchment and place it on a plate or cutting board that will fit in the fridge/freezer.
  2. Scrape off any large sprinkles from the pre-made sugar cookies.  Some frosting remaining on the cookie is okay.
  3. Place the cookies in a food processor and grind until crumbly.
  4. Place the cookie crumbs in a medium bowl and combine with the softened cream cheese.  Mix until smooth.
  5. Scoop out a heaping tablespoon’s worth of the dough and roll it into a round ball.  Place on the parchment and repeat until all the dough is used up.
  6. Chill the rolled dough in the fridge/freezer for about 20 minutes.
  7. Melt the white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl, heating in 30-second increments and stirring well between each interval.
  8. Using a spoon, dip each chilled dough ball in the melted white chocolate and coat.  Scoop out the ball and tap off the excess on the side of the bowl.  Transfer the truffle ball to the parchment again and use the tip of the spoon to cover up any areas that appear thin or where the spoon left an indent.
  9. Top with sprinkles.

Notes

White chocolate sets quickly.  Work in small batches and decorate with the sprinkles before the white chocolate sets and hardens.

Storage: Truffles can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to one week or frozen for 3 months.
